I dont want to go to my formal (prom) but dont want my mum to be upset that I didn't go because she didnt too?

Don't force yourself to go just to please your mom. Prom or formal isn't really that big of a deal. I went to mine this year and it honestly wasn't what it's cracked up to be. She'll understand. Going will make you sad, does she want that?
