Can i get hurt this way?

I want to try out for cheerleading but im so stiff and cant even do a cartwheel! I need help ive been doing yoga but its way to slow. So i came up with an idea that my friend helped me with. I want someone to push me down to the floor until ive done a split. If i cant go down ill let some one sit one me. Is that ok or will i be hurt. And is it painful?
