Why are Koreans so good at games?

I have some Korean acquaintances, and they all are amazing at games whether it's computer game, or just a board game. They beat almost everyone who plays them at card games, chess, etc. I asked them why, and they just told me that all the major gaming industries are located in Korea. But that's for computer gaming, so what allows Koreans to be so skilled at other games?
