HORRIBLE period cramps, need ideas as to help !!!!?

im 16 years old, and ive honestly NEVER felt period cramps this bad, well I have but rarely. I was just on the birth control pill for 6 or so months and I guess I forgot how painful periods were when not on it.. anyways, Ive been taking 8 hr lasting iBuprofen and I need Ideas to help ease the pain while I wait for the meds to kick in when they wear off. It takes sadly around 45 mins - 1 hr to fully kick in :( so I need ideas if I wake up in the middle of the night in terrible pain while i obv wait for it to kick in Ill do anything, aslong as it doesnt involve eating gross foods.
